Johnson County Young Matrons Prepare Rodrock Care Packages And College Baskets
Johnson County Young Matrons began their philanthropic activities on August 9th for the Rodrock Foundation, JCYM’s newest philanthropy. The Rodrock Foundation is dedicated to children aging out of the foster care system.
Nine JCYM members met at the Rodrock Foundation main office and filled approximately fifty laundry baskets with linens, a pillow, snacks and a bathroom caddy that contained toothpaste, a toothbrush, body wash, soap, shampoo, conditioner, shower shoes, deodorant and a first aid kit. Feminine hygiene products, which were donated, were also available. These baskets will be given to foster teens going to college.
Unlike in the past where most of the items were donated, the Rodrock Foundation purchased the majority of the items.
In the coming weeks, JCYM members may have the opportunity to fill college backpacks.
These are just two of the examples of how JCYM will support the Rodrock Foundation. Other projects are volunteering at the Christmas, birthdays and high school graduation parties.
